Thank you for showing an interest in Henrietta Ambulance. The application below will start you on your way to helping us help the community.
Applicants for active membership must be at least 18 years old to Dispatch, 18 years old to Medic, and 21 to Drive.
As a new member of HVA, after your initial orientation, the applicant has the option to train as a dispatcher or to become a medic trainee. To be cleared as a Dispatcher, applicants must have completed all training requirements including CPR for the Professional Rescuer, HIPAA, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
In order to be cleared as a Medic, the trainee must be certified in EMT-B (or higher), CPR for the Professional Rescuer, HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and fulfill all training requirements.
To be eligible to train as a Driver, an applicant must be a cleared Medic. All drivers must maintain all of their Medic responsibilities as well as CPR for the Professional Rescuer, HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and attend an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.
The above certifications are NOT required to become a member of HVA. Applicants who do not have the appropriate certifications will receive free training and certification for any position desired. All active members, including those in training, must serve a minimum of 12 hours per month. Please note that this is a minimum requirement. We encourage members to work as much as possible, especially while training, to maintain and learn new skills.
All active members must wear the HVA uniform at all times while on duty. When a member becomes fully trained as a Dispatcher, Driver, Medic or ALS Tech, they are issued a "duty uniform". Each uniform shall be supplied with an HVA emblem patch. Uniforms must be neat, clean, and fit properly in order to give the professional image for which HVA stands.
Additional information including copies of the By-laws, Rules and Regulations, and Dispatcher or Medic Manuals may be provided at orientation or upon the start of your training.
Applications for HVA Membership may be obtained at the base, from HVA members, or may be downloaded from this page. In addition to the complete application, you must provide three personal references before your application will be considered by the Board of Directors. The completed materials may then be mailed to or dropped off at our base, located at 280 Calkins Road in Henrietta.
